Since I keep mainly Discus I dont use much substrate.

Interiors, (plants rock work):
Lots of roots, Anubias in pots and Ceratopteris cornuta.

What could have been done better?
I would like to set up some kind of container for peat filtration between the hot water tank and the fish tanks. This will be a future project.

Do you have a show tank in your livingroom?
Not at the moment but.....well, well.

Maintanace

Waterchange frequency:
From 50% daily in some tanks to 30% weekly in others.

Method of waterchanges:
I have installed an automatic water changing system. A water pipe runs along the cieling. At the outlet for each tank there is a set of buttons were you can have the system give 2, 4, 6 or 12 liters per hour depending on the amount of whater you wish to change and on the size of the tank.

Smart gadgets to help working the room:
Drain in the Floor. At summer time I lead all the water that goes out of the tanks into my breed house for plants.

I have installed a 250 liter hot water tank that is used only for the fish room. It's conected to a thermostat and an electro magnet so that all whater that comes out of it is always of the exact same temperature.

As backup I have installed a "movement tracking device" that is connected to the burglar/fire alarm of my home. If the power goes off I get called up by a security company if the power isn't back on within a specified amount of time.

Foods for fry and grown fish:
Home made beef heart mix, Artemia, Pellets and various algae wafers.
